A leather sofa is considered one of
the finest furniture. It is expensive and resident
owners take a very good care with it. Not many
people acquire a sofa such as leather. It’s soft and
delicate, and we all know that leather is not
limited to sofas only. They are used in shoes,
boots, clothing and accessories like jackets, coats
and dresses, and upholstery on chairs and car seats.
Every material made into leather is transformed
beautifully.
It originates from either cattle or
buffalo, pigs snake skin, and other vague creatures.
That is why cleaning leather is not that easy to
achieve; and it generally won’t work on others.
You may hire your own sofa cleaning
service, but there are also ways in which you can
save money and clean it yourself. Who knows, it’s
just might look like a new sofa once you finish it
yourself.
One is to use good quality soap such
as Dove. Get a soft dish cloth, gently put soap on
it, and wipe the sofa to remove dirty. Don’t soak
the leather too long. Try not to rinse after washing
it. Instead, dab it with a soft dry cloth. It
naturally allows the soap to condition the leather.
Use conditioner when possible. Buy
one in an over the counter furniture stores or in
supermarkets. Using a clean cloth, gently rub the
conditioner in a circular motion. Try to cover the
entire surface with it. after you are done, let it
sit for about ten to fifteen minutes, then buff it
with a soft cloth to add shimmer to your sofa.
When you clean using water-based
liquids, be careful when using it. Dab it as much
liquid as possible, but not too much. Doing this
will spill the liquid to other areas of the sofa.
You wouldn’t want that to happen, do you? Repeat
procedure until the cloth becomes dry.
If your sofa is smeared by butter or
grease, don’t be too worried because there’s a
remedy for this. Avoid using water at this
situation. Dab the blotted areas until the cloth
dries up. After this, wait for a day or two before
repeating the same procedure. If the stain is still
there, then use a leather sofa, which you can
purchase at a supermarket store or a sofa store.
For pen ink stains, dip some cotton
wool or a cotton bud in an alcohol or vinegar, then
rub the stained part in circular motion. Dry the
area with a fan or a blow dryer. If the problem is
still evident, use acetone polish remover. Use a
soft cloth and rub it dry over the ink stain. You
will get good results instantly.
To make sure that you keep your
leather sofa in good condition always, apply a
quality leather cream that you can buy in any
department store.
Bear in mind that cleaning the sofa
leather is a top priority. You may be spending
countless of hours making it spotless, but every
effort is worth it. Once you get that shine on your
sofa, sit on it and you’ll feel like you’re the King
or a Princess at your own home.
