How to start a cleaning business

A Cleaning Business By Contrast

For you to decide on a particular cleaning business we must take it up on view so that we can take a look at each in perspective. The cleaning industry has two main market branches, that being the residential segment and the commercial market. A residential market covers households, a daycare center perhaps, coffee shops, a small office, among some. Though these are small area customers and are not mostly contracted on a daily basis, the market is vast and sustainable. Commercial customers would include large offices, banks, theaters, theme parks, shopping malls and the like.

A cleaning business that serves a residential market offers maid services. These are jobs that require you to dust surfaces and fixtures, wipe and polish tables, chairs and counters, vacuum and mop carpets, rugs and stairs, tidy the linens and take out trash. With most hectic schedules of families nowadays a cleaning business has been quite recently an often sought after service. Clocking in at ten to twelve hours each for husband and wife leaves them little time for themselves when the day is done. Commercial establishments on the other hand require janitorial services. They pretty do much the same as maid services with a much larger scope, sometimes even branching out to maintenance of lights and fixtures, landscaping and trauma cleaning.

Starting up a cleaning business for a residential market does not require a big investment and can be initially based at your home. You might want to find customers that are within close proximity for starters. You will also need to select and hire a good staff. This will be a good part of your investment in this business venture, since it is primarily labor centered and dependent. You will want to choose people that are hard working and goal-oriented, individuals who find happiness in their accomplishment. It is an advantage if the people you select require little or no supervision on site. This will allow you not to be on location all the time while the job is done and will help you focus on the other aspects of running the business. Residential house cleaning is done during the normal hours of the day whereas janitorial services for commercial establishments operate mostly at night when office hours are through. This will allow them to not interfere with the daily operations of that business.

As you get the feel of your business you may opt to specialize in a single market or cater to both. It requires the same basic system so it will be just the scope and added responsibilities that will differ when servicing both markets. Individually, both markets are strong by themselves and are totally separate and self sustaining markets.

Added services may also be included in your list of offerings. Aside from your basic cleaning package you can offer rug and carpet cleaning, this is a thorough cleaning which can’t be handled by shampoos and vacuuming. You will need an array of chemicals to get those deep pieces of dirt out and correcting discoloration.
